Trina's Surtido de galletas y barquillos review

Playa de las Americas, Tenerife (temp 28oC),

Live Biccie report

Having bought nice biccies in a similar bag from Lidl's (how we are all misled by packaging!), and in need of something with a cup of tea (Yorkshire blend, umm, nice) we bought 'Surtido de galletas y barquillos'.  Like so many things on holiday - not quite like the picture.  Despite picking from the back of the shelf most of the biccies were broken.  They smell floury and vanilla-y but not very biscuity.  Unfortunately due to humidity the bag didn't keep well and developed soggy biscuit disease very quickly.  Only the biccies on the plate survived intact and the next day somehow we had a bag full of crumbs.  Certainly made the local dove mad when we fed them to it on the balcony because his little beak had to go into overdrive to get a good scoff. The instructions to store in a dry and cool place are a bit of no-hoper in such warm foreign places.  Overall, not a very good biccy selection even balanced by a civilized cup of Yorkshire tea.  Not for dunking and not for keeping. And even though they have a (snigger) funny name too... but there was no mention of calories so I expect they don't have any.
