MP calls for Tea Trolley at UK Airports

Monday 4 Feb 2008 Reporter: Nicey
Following on from an idea by the MD of Waitrose, the Conservative MP Michael Fabricant has tabled a motion in the House Of Commons calling for tea trolleys to be introduced to UK airports. Following hard on the heels of the Lords debate about thickness of sliced bread last December. It's good to see that that such trifles as imminent world financial meltdown, the unsustainable demand for energy and ever present climate change fears are not distracting from such important issues as ease of access to tea at our major airports.
We are not quite sure where he is going with that, as there are any number of outlets at airports where tea can be retrieved. Also he seems to want to get his cuppa when he gets back to the UK, where frankly its pull of ones own domestic kettle and the promise of your sofa which imparts those last few vital hours of steely determination to get out of the place. Administering tea in the arrivals might just take the edge off that manic exodus as hordes of us struggle against baggage carousel and car park mini bus transfer. This could lead to backups of temporarily soothed travellers interfering with the smooth fleeing of others. Writing for the Times Caitlin Moran has produced what can only be described as an excellent article exploring this.
