LU French classics now available in the UK

Thursday 29 Nov 2007 Reporter: Nicey
This week Tesco are to begin selling biscuits from leading French manufacturer LU, most of which we have taken a look at over the years here on NCOTAASD. LU have even taken the unusual step of Anglicising their range so that we can actually work out what's going on.
The LU Barquette, an elliptical sponge filled with jam, has been re-branded as the Petit LU fruit scoop for the children's sector. Two flavours strawberry and raspberry will be available.
For the adults we finally get our hands on the Petit Ecolier via the new "Encore" range. Helpfully named Butter Biscuit Milk and Butter Biscuit Xtra Dark, they are crisp butter biscuits bearing hefty slabs of continental chocolate and should prove a big hit with lovers of Bahlsen's Choco Liebniz. LU tell us that the recipie has changed a good bit since we last looked at them, so we'll be seeking out the biccies as soon as they hit the shelves. Another chocolate biscuit in the range the Noir Intense, has so far evaded us so we'll need to get that fully appraised too.
Finally LU have brought some of the PIMs Jaffa cake technology our way with the Encore Jaffa Cherry and Encore Raspberry. A sensible move we think sticking to the flavours LU does best and differentiating from the hundreds of other orange based products. Also very welcome news to those who have been trying to track down raspberry Jaffas.
