Ringtons Ginger Snap Review |
Dear Nicey, Wifey and YMOS,
Further to Russ Humphrey’s message, I can confirm we have a Ringtons Man in Wymondham, Norfolk – which is a fair distance from Newcastle. We use their Extra Fresh Tea for our regular brew, and are partial to their butter and sultana cookies, chocolate mallows and ginger snaps. I prefer the ginger snaps and cookies after the pack has been left open a couple of days and they are slightly softened.

| Nicey replies: Yes that is a bit off their beaten track. In fact Wymondham isn't really on anybody's beaten track unless they are going to Norwich and by then they are so nearly at Norwich that they are unlikely to stop. I wonder how the Ringtons man gets to you? Mind you I've just spotted that they are opening up shops round the UK including one just down the road from us.

Good morning Nicey,
I was wondering if you could please advise on a debate my friend Nicola and I are having.
Nicola is under the belief that Ringtons Tea is only available in the Glasshoughton area of the UK (sorry the Newcastle area as well) and is delivered by a tea man (I imagine these people to be similar to the old milk man with his float).
I do not believe that there is such a thing as a tea man, delivering only Ringtons tea door to door. Have you ever heard of such a scheme?

Ringtons Ginger Snap Review |
Hello
My 85 year old mum buys huge quantities of a caramel wafer, similar to Tunnocks', from Ringtons.
Frankly, I find them inferior, being less chewy and sometimes rather dry.
However, if I start to buy the Tunnocks ones, I will be in the unenviable dilemma of refusing my mums kind offer of yet another packet of 'those biscuits you like, pet'.
And I don't want to overload the biscuit barrel.
Does anyone else find the lookie-likie Ringtons version not as nice? And do others have a generous biscuit-giver in the family?

| Nicey replies: Yes a dilemma indeed. Presumably your Mum takes advantage of Rington's home delivery service. Perhaps the way forward is to suggest that you might want to give some of their other stuff a go to see what its like, could be a win win situation if you find a new favourite. Lots of people rave about their Gingernuts for instance. |

Can you settle an argument? I contend that the term Ginger Snap is a generic one, which encompasses all biscuits which may call themselves Ginger Nut. Other members of my team claim that it is the other way round, and that a Ginger Nut is the general term, and that Ginger Snap is a brand name. Who is right? |
| Nicey replies: No Ginger Snap is not a brand name. I have always seen them as interchangeable terms. However, I would see a Ginger Snap implying a thinner and more delicate biscuit moving towards the Brandy Snap's thin brittle toffee. Mind you the last 'ginger snap' we got to grips with was a fair size dwarfing the Ginger Nuts along side it, although it wasn't durable as them. |
