Custard to the rescue

		It seems according to the Times that custard heroes Bird's are becoming increasingly concerned about the state of puddings in the UK. It seems that proper hot puddings with custard consumption has fallen to worringly low levels, with an average household having Apple Crumble only 2.2 times per year.
Bird's are lobbying MPs to get proper puddings put back on menus in schools, hospitals and even prisons. Bird's own research indicates that pudding consumption has fallen by about 60% over the last ten years. However it does appear that people living in the North are still eating lots of proper puddings. As you may know at NCOTAASD we have done our bit to bring the plight of Custard to the fore with our 2006 year of Custard thing that we did. As we set out to stop the complete disappearance of custard altogether we feel it was a resounding success as its still in the shops. For our part we have seen off almost a complete tub of custard powder this year, although we miss the old tins. It would have been nice to have a few pictures of some proper puddings sent in though, if any of you want to knock some up this week end that would be fine. We'll also accept hot blancmange too, especially pink over chocolate sponge like we used to get at school.
